Welcome To The Harrow & Colchester Region!

I would like to welcome you to the Harrow & Colchester region of the municipality of Essex, in Essex County in the Province of Ontario, Canada. That sounds like a long description for a very unique area of North America. As a native of the area, I believe this is a great place to live and raise a family.

We have many amenities close by including a new medical centre, dentist clinic, retirement community, schools, library, service clubs and churches.

Agriculture has been and still is a major focus of this north shore Lake Erie community. More wineries are opening each year due to the ideal weather and soil conditions (terroir). A wide variety of fruits, vegetables and field crops are grown. This region has the most growing days of any area in Canada.

The Lake Erie influence is enormous on our recreational activities: boating, fishing, including the famous Walleye Derby in Colchester Harbour. The lake also moderates our temperatures making us a warm and sunny destination. There is a great deal of opportunity to develop new ventures here.

We boast a wide variety of career options for a small community that include heavy and light industry, research, agriculture and tourism. Renewable Green Energy is becoming important and will be a very significant to our future prosperity.

The Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome you to our area, on a day trip, as a potential permanent resident, or to set up a business. We are more than pleased to help.

Regards
Murdo McLean President of the Harrow and Colchester South Chamber of Commerce
